Claude Monet was born on November 14, 1840 in Paris. He spent his childhood in Le Havre, selling caricatures. Boudin was aware of the young talent and gave him the first coaching. Monet moved to Paris in 1859, attended the Acad? Mie Suisse and met Pissarro. In 1862/63 he met Renoir, Bazille and Sisley in the studio of Charles Gleyre.
Monet experimentalized with different impressions of natural light. He was successful in the salons between 1865 to 1866. In 1870 he married Camille Doncieux. She moved to London, escorted by Pissarro to escape at the beginning of war between France and Germany. Monet finally came back to France and settled in Argenteuil near Paris. He participated in the first exhibition of the Impressionists. One of his photos displayed - "Impression, Soleil Levant" - was the namesake of the entire movement.
Monet's husband died in 1879. Later he married Alice Hosched?. Unfortunately she died young in 1911. In 1883 Monet moved into a house in Giverny. He wore a Japanese gardener garden plant with the familiar water lily pond. The famous pond was his only theme of Monet's death on November 6, 1926.
